Tatjana Hofmann is a Slavicist and cultural studies scholar whose research focuses on Eastern and Central Europe. After studying at Humboldt University in Berlin, she went on to defend her doctoral thesis (»Literary Ethnographies of Ukraine«, 2014; Russian edition, 2016) at the University of Zurich. She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher and project manager at the University of Zurich, the Collegium Helveticum and the University of St Gallen.

Her research interests include the avant-garde, travel literature, post-socialism and the organisation of academic knowledge. Her most recent study, »Early Soviet Travel Reportage« (2025), delves into the neglected genre of the putevoi ocherk. She is currently working on a collection of interviews featuring retrospective accounts of professors of Slavic studies. Besides, she is finishing her novel called »Züriseelen«, for which she has received a grant from the canton of Zurich. In 2026 / 27, she will be a fellow at the Alfried Krupp College in Greifswald.
