Sergei Tretyakov (1892-1937) was a futurist poet and theorist of the Left Front of Art. He wrote plays for Vsevolod Meyerhold and Sergei Eisenstein, screenplays for Georgian filmmakers Mikhail Chiaureli, Nikoloz Shengelaia and Mikhail Kalatozov, and also many essays about his travels to China, Georgia, Siberia, Western Europe, that he called »roadfilms«. He was closely associated with Bertolt Brecht and translated his plays into Russian. In 1937 he was arrested and shot in Moscow, accused of being a Japanese spy. In February 1956 he was rehabilitated
