Christoph Hesse studied cinema and television, German studies and philosophy in Bochum. Dissertation thesis: Film Form and Fetish, Bielefeld, 2006. Together with Wolfgang Beilenhoff he published a collection of essays on Russian formalism in cinema (Poetics of the Cinema. Theory and Practice of Russian Formalism in Film, Frankfurt, 2005).
