This collection of fundamental texts about film editing by Soviet cinematographer and art researcher Sergei Eisenstein unites his early manifesto Montage of Attractions (1923) and core works of Eisenstein's film theory, Intellectual Montage: Beyond the Shot (1929), The Fourth Dimension in Cinema (1929) and A Dialectic Approach to Film Form (1929). Eisenstein's Revolutionary Trilogy and his most important film, Battleship Potemkin (1925), represent attempts to put into practice his intellectual montage theory and still remain one of the most important examples of cinematic reflections.
The preface is written by Oksana Bulgakowa, an expert on Sergei Eisenstein's work.
