The textbook for Georgian as a second language is intended for nonnative speakers who live, work or travel in Georgia, are interested in Georgian culture and wish to learn the Georgian language.
The first part of the textbook consists of eight reading and writing lessons, illustrated with pictures. In the main part, each of the 28 lessons consists of:
– a short dialogue or text on a specific topic from every day life: getting acquainted, weather, seasons, Christmas, etc.
– rules of Georgian grammar presented in diagrams and tables
– a short Georgian poem
– a text of a wellknown Georgian author selected to illus trate the grammar material presented in the lesson
– vocabulary at the end of each section
– exercises to apply new vocabulary and grammar top ics
The final, 29th lesson presents a short summary of Georgian grammar followed by an index of grammar terms and topics.
The textbook aims to help learning Georgian as a second language as well as to acquaint readers with Georgian culture, history, traditions, and customs.
