Germane Gogitidze (1886-1960) during his visit to Berlin in 1925 asked the classic German filmmaker Fritz Lang to direct an adaptation of the Knight in the Panther’s Skin, the 12th century poem by Shota Rustaveli. The book includes a translation of Gogitidze's unpublished memories about the cinema, critical letters and archival materials, and includes 19 photos. The book also includes Gogitidze’s complete biography, which contains previously unknown facts about his life and work. The book is the first monograph about this pioneer of Georgian cinema and introduces the readers to the early history of Georgian cinema.
